MALTA RESIDENCY AND VISA PROGRAMME (MRVP)
Malta Residency and Visa Programme (MRVP) is designed to facilitate Maltese residency to non-Maltese nationals and their dependants. It offers an EU residence card which allows the holder to travel visa-free within the Schengen Area. The Maltese residence permit offers indefinite settlement rights in Malta within a stable political climate and excellent living standards.

Requirements
To be eligible for Maltese residence permit under the MRVP, applicants must:
1
Make an investment in government bonds of EUR 250,000 to be retained for a minimum period of five years; and
2
A non-refundable government contribution of EUR 30,000 (EUR 5,500 of which is an advance government administrative fee); and
3
A property purchase of EUR 320,000 (EUR 270,000 in South Malta or Gozo); or a property lease of EUR 12,000 per annum (EUR 10,000 in South Malta or Gozo)
In addition, all applicants must be free from criminal record, fraud, malpractice, financial fraud or indemnities.
All applicants must hold a full medical insurance which is valid within the EU.
Process
The MRVP application requirements and procedures are reasonable and straightforward. The application is submitted to Identity Malta, the government agency responsible for applications, with a non-refundable deposit of the contribution amount in the sum of EUR 5,500. After stringent due diligence checks, successful applicants will be requested to complete the qualifying investments and will then be issued a residence permit. Identity Malta will issue successful applicants with a Maltese Residence Certificate which will be deemed to be a permit. The certificate will be monitored annually for the first five years from its issue, and every five years thereafter.

Important Points to Consider
The property and investments must be held for a minimum of five years.
All applicants must hold a full medical insurance which shall be valid within the EU.
The main applicant must receive an annual income of at least EUR 100,000 arising outside Malta, or have capital of at least EUR 500,000.
